Discover the old Viking and Vendel site Valsgärde and try out to row a Viking boat!

From SEK SEK750.00
  • Duration: 2 Hours (approx.)
  • Location: Uppsala, Sverige
  • Product code: PL6QVR

Go back in time and listen to the stories about the Viking and Vendel age, their society and the Fyrisån river that was an important communication and transport way long back in the history. As you are going to be able to see for yourself from tumuli, the river connects Valsgärde with other historically important places such as Old Uppsala church (Gamla Uppsala kyrka), which was the seat of the Archbishopric of Sweden to the 1273, and boat inhumation graves nearby, Uppsala Cathedral (Uppsala domkyrka), and much more. From Uppsala City, Fyrisån runs all the way to the Lake Mälaren.

Together with our expert guide you are going to continue unveiling the mysteries of the Viking and Vendel age on the way to, and in the Viking boat itself, and experience how to row in a Viking boat!

Overview:

This tour is a part walk part boat tour.

The tour begins with gathering in the parking lot with Sport Adventure Travels. Once everyone has arrived you can dress as a Viking (optional). From this place we are going to take a walk (approximately 800m) to the Valsgärde with our guide. After approximately one hour, we are going to continue listening to our guide and walking to the boat. Before we get on the Viking boat, you are required to wear a life jacket while aboard (under the Viking clothes).

During this adventure you are going to have a rare opportunity to experience rowing a Viking boat and navigating through the beautiful nature of Fyrisån. You can choose to either row yourself or just sit and enjoy nature and historical stories. We row on the Fyrisån for about 30 minutes. Our guide welcomes all your questions!

After the experience, the group can stay on our terrace with free FIKA!

Please make sure to arrive at least 10 minutes before meeting time. Guided tours have to run when scheduled!

Participation conditions: You are going to row through calm waters and no prior experience is required for this tour.
